For me it's been a terrible season so far - never been able to get out when the winds been blowin - makes me wonder how everyone else is faring?
So whats been you most used sail/board size this season so far? May as well add where you've been sailing mostly.

Mine has been:
Sail: 7.5m
board: 117l
Area: Sydney Metro (Kyeemagh)

last season I was on the same board but often overpowered on a 6.5m sail so I bought a 5.5m only used it once so far this season and havn't even touched my 5.0m.

DavMen,

I share your pain..... Most used kit has been my 7.3 and a 111 iSonic, and I have had the time to spare to sail . Same spot as you.

Last season in Melbourne, my most common kit was a 5.7 and 92 ltr board.

Don't get me wrong, I am happy to get out sailing on the plane, but just wish I could be on some smaller kit.....

The last few sails I've had have been with a 5.8 and a 90 litre board. Then again, it is the ONLY board I have so I haven't got much choice there. Lucky I don't weigh too much so I'm plaing in 12 knots with a 5.8. Have been out a bit also with a 6.7 but if I need anything bigger than that then unless I have a much bigger board I'm probably not going to be planing anyway so I would probably not bother.

pretty easy answer for me given my very small quiver of gear...I have used all of it

My RRD MPE - 83Lt

and my 5.3 sail, with a lot of use of my 4.7 over Christmas. See as that is all the gear I currently have it's an easy call.

Tomorrow I should recieve my new Tabou Manta to go nicely with the 7.5 and 6.5 Gaastra GTX's sitting at home.

My most used sail here in Sydney is my 7.5m, but due to 3 weeks in Safety Bay, the most current used sail this season is probably even between my 5.5m Infinity and a 6.0m V8. Which for me are small sails.

The most used board is a 135L both here and in Safety Bay. I also wish that I took a 100 litre board there...

It's interesting to see people in WA with a quiver that only has 1 board and 2 sails, and they still get more sailing time!

Not to worry, I expect that we will start to see some regular seabreezes in February.

I do really envy the WA guys on 5.5's and 80 litre boards. My most commonly used kit this summer is...

Board: 100L x 62cm wide
Sail: 6.7
Area: Kyeemagh... you guessed it.... NSW

Geraldton has had a great season so far...

Probably a split between my 5.2 ezzy and 4.4 north both on a 69L board.
And on the odd ocasion I've dragged out a 5.5 on a 78L board.

Honestly if your serious about windsurfing move to Geraldton like I did.

Only one board, Tabou 140 Rocket. So I have used it plus a Neil Pryde RX2 6.7. I recently bought a Neil Pryde VX2 6.0.

I have a Sailworks Revos 5.0 and 4.4. I used the 5 once and it was too light for it. I have a Bic Saxo 253 at my parents place so I plan on getting it. However given the conditions so far this year, its been no great loss not having at hand.

I wouldn't mind getting a smaller board around 100 litres that would fit in the middle or perhaps a bit smaller to replace the Saxo. I wouldn't mind getting a 7.5 sail too. However discrecenary spending is limited due to an upcoming skiing holiday to Japan.

When I holidayed in WA a few years ago I only used the Saxo and the 5 and 4.4 sails. Because of consistent conditions you don't need a wide range of gear. East coast conditions are more variable so the bigger the quiver the better.

Big kit but I'm a big bloke (110kg) and I've been sailing mainly on the flat.

Plenty of days powered up in 20-25k on that gear.

no board and no sail

Just had 3 weeks off work and could only get 2 good sessions after a long drought. First day back at work (Monday) and it was 30 knots!

The long weekend looks crap. I even bought a 122lt isonic for my 69kg to plane earlier but only got 1 day slogging.

Otherwise a 94lt slalom and 5.0 is fun.

I think I've got 11 boards; don't know how many sails.

Gear used this season; Windsurfer One Design with 6m sail. Nothing else......oh, I borrowed other gear for quick rides just for interest's sake.

Days it's fun to sail; every day.

What are you all whinging about?
Ever since Uncle Harold bought himself a new quiver of Ezzys, 4.5 - 6.5, the best sailing we've had has been in 4.5m conditions. He told me so himself. And I agree.

Sadly, the rest of the time I've been out on my bicycle. About 60km today

As for the pessimists who are busy calling it the worst Sydney season in years, bad luck, I beat you to the punch. I was calling that way back in September or October. It was obvious. It was raining in the dry part of the year.

On the plus side, all that cycling has trimmed a couple of kilos off the midriff
