If only they'd change to flaired jeans they would get a backup chute for the descent.

The sensible ones must be continually frustrated by the younger dopey ones. Every time they discuss something that poleys criticise them for, there is a whole bunch of posts for kiters just reinforcing what we say!!! Somebody accused the boardies-over-wettie people of being fashion victims....... then a young bloke posts

"Dudes if hadlow (some pro I guess??) does it then it's gotta be kool!!!! When all you douches who don't wear boardies over a wettie are 4x world champs then maybe i'll stop wearin em!!! ...... "

Further example when they were talking about the bloke who got ragdolled on telly in Qld a week ago..... in the middle of that thread some young d!ckhead says how he will give it a go tomorrow on his 12m ..... in 30-35kn and he'll be able to handle it.

Sensible kiters, I feel for you I really do. Fighting a tide of teen idiocy

I remember 25 years ago when I used to wear footy shorts over my wetsuit.
Reason was the planks on our VJ used to rub right through ya wetty. Also it made it easier to slide up and down as you adjusted the boat.

Quote:
How could it be a fashion.
If its cold, wear a wettie.
If its warm, wear the boardies. Simple.
(I think it may be people with waist harnesses, and they use the boardies to stop the wetsuit from getting damaged)
By all means wear them, but it gives the polies ammo.

Stop your harness from damaging your wetsuit? How? Unless they wear their boardies pulled up to their armpits, that would be a great look haha.

BTW this topic sucks :)

Hmmmm...it DOES protect the wetsuit, if one needs to mount the board from the water, when one isn't going to waterstart. And windsurf boards are rough. Maybe we should be the ones wearing shorts over wetties????

How long until they start wearing undies and boardshorts, hanging very low?

Seriously WTF is with that? There are some kids that near my place and their pants are actually riding *below their undies. It's just undies and some jeans hanging around their knees. Weird.

Also at university I occasionally see the odd student walking around in a wet shirt.

About 20 years ago there was a guy at Main Beach who'd walk around all summer in a full length wetty. He was mad though.

How does the harness damage a wetsuit?
Thats a load of crock!
My wettie is fine and I dont wear shorts over my wettie.
If anything my harness wears quicker than my wettie.
But my wettie doesnt even wear from my harness. So figure that out?
What am I doing wrong? Or right? Definately a fashion thing.

And not one of us could be bothered to jump into the kite forum and give them sh^t about how gay it is and how windsurfing is so much better than kiting, very mature of us all I thought.
Shame it doesn't work both ways.

I don't think it's a fashion thing, I think it's more that a lot of kiters are new to surf sports and didn't grow up surfing etc and wearing wetties so they feel a bit self conscious flaunting their package at the beach.

only problem with this line of thought squidsie, is that its winter (which is why your wearing a wettie) and in the words of seinfields George ..."SHRINKAGE!!!!"
there aint going to be a package after being in the cold water...

... unless your a particularly well hung windsurfer (as most of us are )

I just had a quick look to see what everyone was talking about.
Theres a bloody photo of some gaylord doing the Borat mankini thing.
Faarrrkkkkkkkkk. Those guys just keep shooting themselves in the foot with stuff like.
Im with whoever said the older, more experienced guys must cringe every time they see that crap.
Last time I posted something about kiting it turned into 3 pages of flaming and Laurie deleted it.
