Here's a little bit of footage from a photoshoot with Chris Lockwood that we did on Monday for Mistral boards, now owned by Anders Bringdal.

Oh to be able to sail like that..! I would have thought the wind created by the helicopter would make it difficult for him?

I can see that the Mistral board is much better than a helicopter at Alpha 500 !

What's the board ? (and sail ? looks nice)

yep! with a JP 36cm weed fin (!) Its pretty fast off the wind. There is a lot of seaweed there. It was quite windy for about 30 minutes before Col turned up in the chopper. Gusting to 25+ so it was hammering off the wind. Wind dropped a few pegs for the vid.

Chris out of all the fins you probably have what made you choose the 36 JP weedfin ( besides it being just a lot of weed around ), I got a 36 a few months ago and also rate it highly, I use it in a my freeride board. I was looking at also getting the 31 JP weedie as well have you tried the smaller one as well and if you have how do rate it.

Jamie, I havent used the 31 JP, but the 36 seems to work really well in the 68cm wide board. Its quite flexible in the tip, which suits lighter guys and helps to soften the ride a bit, and its quite slippery off the wind. Its nice when powered up. I expect the 31 would be a solid performer in smaller boards.

I dont have a lot of weed fins- most of them are odds and sods I pull out when I have to.

Hi, I run a 31 jp weed in my 55cm wide sonic it's a bit big but it's deffinatly a nice fin, very comfortable off the wind and can run my 4.4 all the way through to 6.7 rss on it. I like it but it would be more suited to a slightly bigger board

Great video, thanks for posting this.
I use a JP31 weedy on my Iso 105 when using 5.8 RSSII in strong winds, I think it is a good fin (I am a lighter sailor)

Col, that is awesome filming.

Most people won't appreciate how difficult it is to film something moving from a moving object. Incredible work.

How the hell do you eliminate to bouncing and shaking? It is perfect.

It's actually fairly smooth when you're at water level, only when you go above 20-30m height that it gets bumpy. This was my first shoot with the new gyro stabiliser which is twice as powerful as the one I was originaly going to get so no problems with vibration anymore.
Do you know where this was shot John?
