Just wondering if anyone can give advice on how to remove the gasket from a Mistral race board? I want to swap from one board to another.

Undo the screw at the front. Lift up the flap, insert a small flat screw driver under the rubber flap, wiggle it round a bit, it is a tough and groove system, once you have lifted the flap you will see a number of screws, undo these and the whole system will come off.

The screws are hidden under the flap of course but be careful not to damage the flap when you pull it open (starting from either end). Keep the screws cause they are the right size. The hardest part is purchasing he rubber the correct thickness so the flap will clamp back down again. I believe the best technique is to screw the new rubber down on each side first and then slit the rubber down the centre secondly. However I tried this and it was really hard to get the slit straight.

I was given an IMCO ManOverBoard and the gasket is in better nick than on the Equipe so I'm trying to swap them around. You're welcome to the IMCO but it needs straps and a some bits for the mast tack pedal... oh and the gasket

i got fairly excited when i spied a box full of those gaskets at a shop in wisconsin two weeks ago, unfortunatly they were off a smaller mistral and about 3" too short for an imco. i did however buy a reproduction pedal made from alu. the shop had a barn out the back full of stuff including some real nice original superlights.

hi manoverboard,
i managed to find some spares, though mostly from overseas.

i believe there is a shop in Perth that has been around for a while, not sure of the name but i think they do shade sails or something similar nowadays, they have some mistral stuff but they never got back to me.

windgenuity have gaskets but only for the 2000/2004 model and that is different to the one paddymac has.
i think they have mast track cars but no pedals.

i got a "mast track repair kit"; everything but the extrusion, from Patrik at SVK1.com in Slovakia, not sure what he has left.

Windpower in wisconsin has heaps of stuff, however he won't part with his NOS tracks!, he has parts for tracks.
he said he often sends stuff to Oz and NZ.

you can still buy new One-Designs here; (however the i think the track and gasket are not the same)

i'd be keen to hear how you go, i would like one of those red clips that go on the pedal to stop them flipping over.
Doug.

Doug : An easy no cost fix for the track pedal. All that is required is a small length of thin cord & a few small drill holes in the pedal & white plastic base. Takes no time to install and I can assure you it works a treat. I hope the included photos explain it all.
With regard to Ric's comments on the Superlights, I wholeheartly agree. It was a great early sailboard and as fast as a Div 2 when well sailed.
Those early model IMCO gaskets are a real pain to repair / glue as the rubber to plastic interface is so small. I assume that they were originally joined by some fusing method in the factory. I'm not aware where replacements can be found which is disappointing if you own one of these early models.

Cheers fjdoug/Robhow2.

That shop in Perth is Sails & Windsurfing Centre on O'Connor..it has morphed a bit since the old days..still a loft and also Steve's Surf Shed is there..and rightly as you say Ian Sampson does design and build shade sails there too.
I'll give them a shout t when I know precisely what it is I need!
