I've been sailing mostly on flat or choppy water for the past few years and am looking at getting into wave sailing. I'm 100kg and coming down from a 120l board so I'm also concerned about going too small too early. I'd be interested in any views on either the JP Freestyle Wave 107 or the Mistral Synchro RD 104.
You should consider the fanatic freewave in the larger sizes as well. Have seen a lot of guys using them locally as their light wind waveboard, especially the 104L.
hi esplanade,
im in the same weight level as you are and I sail a syncro few years older than the new RD syncro. mine is the 06/07 with the yellow and orange sun burst grahics. it is very loose and good enough to use in waves for our weight, but I dont know how the newer syncros go. they look to me to be a bit more flat water blasty if you know what I meen. havn't ridden a jp but from what i have seen with them they are also a bit flat in the tail. the 101 might be better to look at than 107. swoosh has a good point with the fanatic as they sound like the would fit the bill quite good. they come with a good looking fin a well that would suit waves. others to consider would be starboard kode, large naish global wave98, exocet wave 103, RRD free style wave 98 or goya free wave.
