Can anyone provide height and width dimension of the base on a mini tutle fin ?
Need to determine if they can be cut down to fit a US Box

Cheers

yes they can, actually doing it now!

But when sanding down you'd have to be careful to keep it straight so I have made a jig and silicone mould for that purpose, can rebox slot to MT or vice versa

@ Sheer Tip, thanks for the images but thats a standard tuttle box not a mini tuttle.

@ Mark, cheers mate, thoughts it could be done but don't have a set of mini tuttles in front of me to look at and eyeball for size.
Plan is to make a jig off standard us box side fins for a quad set up and then cut down the mini turtles to suit.
Pin in the back and then cut out the lug at front and drill hole...

Cheers

Yeah that is what I am doing as the MT base is only about 15mm deep and a US or slot is 25mm. So you can take thickness otu of the base (down to 9mm) no probs but it is still not deep enough so moulding a whole new head is preferable.

I used silicone 2K to mould off a US fin and it works well to convert a MT to slot or US.

Well I guess that's how tuttle boxes are supposed to be, but how many are????
Any of those dimensions can vary by a mm or more either way, depending on who's making the fin or box. A mate of mine just bought a few new boards, only to find the boxes 1mm to large.
When he complained, the advice of the store owner, was to cut some shims from a coke can.
Fantastic stuff when you've just spent several thousand dollars!
(And can any body tell me how many shims you'd need to make up 1mm, and what's the chance of loosing them all every time you removed the fin?)

^^ I'd take the boards back and demand refund
the whole idea is that it is an interference fit - so if you take the bolts out the fin is jammed so tight it will stay in (for a while anyway as flexing when sailing loosens it of course)
Thus, the FIN head is supposed to be a tiny bit too large and sanded a TINY bit to fit... IF need be. Maybe 30% of fins need a light sand.

A box in a board that is too big is an obvious stuff-up.
A fin that is a ****teenth too big is not.

(As an aside, mini tuttle makes more sense as the angle on the sides is more extreme - if the fin box is too wide, or too long, there is more chance of the sides or the ends "jamming up" as you tighten the screw.... lees turns to effect the same interference fit ..... so less likely to need sanding IMHO
