Hi
another nerdy movie this time about masts and extensions, there is also a micro review of the waterspeed app.
Hope you like it

I was interested to hear your comments on Waterspeed App. I'm using it also for on water feedback, posting to GPSTC with my Mini Motion. Agree, it's not bad, but I think it could be improved. One issue is the way the watch goes to a time screen saver, but switches back to speed display when you move your hand in a certain way. The problem is, it usually does exactly the opposite of what I want when I'm sailing. Very frustrating. I queried this with the developer, Massimilano, who said this is an Apple Watch thing and he couldn't alter it. Disappointing.
Another issue is that I've noticed greater variation against my MM, than I used to see with my Garmin. I don't know if that is the gps chip quality or a recording interval issue. As far as I can tell there is no way to change the setting from dynamic to 1 sec? Again, an Apple Watch, rather than an App issue
I would also like to be able to choose more GPSTC categories whilst on the water. I requested this from Massimilano, who responded that this is on the list. I suspect it is a long way down the list.

All up, I think the Apple Watch with Waterspeed App is fine for general sailing, however for on water speedsailing feedback, it's currently a poorer alternative to a Garmin watch with TBW or Fin151 Apps. Surprising given that Waterspeed is a commercial App whereas TBW and FIN151 generously provided their products for free
