Hi All. I took my old TC Runner for a spin on the weekend (first time after about 20 years) and broke the tendon that joins the mast foot to the mast. Can anyone recommend a workaround for this? Would love to get the board back up and running as the rest of the gear is in great condition for its age. I do have some photos but as I'm a newbie to this forum I can't share them.

Welcome to the forum, you will probably find others posting previously on here with a very similar problem, even if it wasn't specifically for your Ten Cate board. Try the seabreeze search or even google search and you should find photos of a work around. An old rubber tendon will nearly always break delaying your moment of nostalgia for another fortnight. I'm sure others will also help you here, Good luck.

Just buy a new tendon from a shop and fix the old one, tendon replacement is quick and easy. Alternatively buy a new style joint and fit the old lug to that. I recently took that option so I can use any euro pin base on my old Bic Reggae

Here's an example of a friends old Hifly mast base being fixed with a new tendon (courtesy of Perks). A bit of work to do it, but should hold up OK.

Thanks everyone for your help. I will buy a Boge joint and see if I can make it work!

New to this site. Took my board out for the first time in decades and the tendon is done. The above photo is my setup. Can you tell me which joint you used? Did you machine the nipple off of the piece that slides into the mast?? Thanks for any all input.

Ps I was so bummed as I was packing up..

I didn't get too far with it as I bought a 'newer' board, an F2 Xantos 325 that has been keeping me busy. I haven't given up on the TC though. Have plans to modify the mast foot to take a pin so that I can use my new rig on the old board. My adult kids have been keen to learn but the Xantos is too unstable for them. The TC will be perfect when I get it going again.
