Which on and what size? Going in a fox120 with 8m ish sails for general blasting around. I have a delta XT 50 in 28cm which I have used with an 8.6 in a fox 140 and that seems ok but maybe a bit big

Haven't tried the MUF deltas but have a few tectonics speed demons and the 23 size works well with my biggest gear 7.8/67w isonic

Metal is for boat anchors not fins (-;
plus can't get them in Canada
MUF have just replied to the email I sent a few minutes ago (great service and on a Sunday) and they are say 26cm which is what I was thinking.
I like the MUF Carbon 30cm for powered blasting on 7.5 and 8.6. It's incredibly fast on beam and broad reaches. However, I feel that the Black Project Delta is quicker to power up, and points really high when asked, all while feeling a lot like a normal fin. Not available in really big sizes but for 7.5 the 24cm is incredible.

Fair point, but they are very good at getting you going with big kit when no one else is going. There're as not that slow either ![]()
Hy, I had used till last year the MUF delta xt 50 in difference sizes but from this year I've switched to Atomicsurf nuclear weed and the difference is huge! with the nuclear weed I can use 2 cm shorter fin, the board is much more free on the water, faster (almost 2 knots in my classic choppy conditions) handle the chop so good that sometimes I forget that I use a delta fin and push hard with the back foot as with an carbon upright fin and the fin doesn't go in spin out. And last but not least the costruction is excellent and almost indestructible, I've hited a submerged trunk at full speed without any damages, not even a scratch. Ask Martin Love the right length for your needs
I have a Delta XT 24 and Tectonics Weed Demon 23, and sailed the Fangy 22 a lot when visiting Oz. All are good fins, but the Fangy was hands-down the best. I'd rank the Weed Demon second, but the 23 will be too small for 120 / 8.0.
I used a small Delta XT50. It was horrible. Go for a Fangyfin or Tribal Delta if you have to deal with weed.
There is a big discussion about ventilation happening on the foil forum, which helped me understand the performance of delta fins a bit better. One of the big issues with Delta fins is ventilation: since the angle is much steeper than on normal weedies, it is much easier for air to travel down the front edge of the fin, causing loss of lift and spinouts. That matches observations with the MUF deltas. The original deltas were somewhat ok in perfectly flat water, but terrible in chop. The Delta XTs are better, but still really don't like chop. In chop, there's a lot more air under the board, so ventilation becomes more of an issue.
There are multiple things that fin designers can do to deal with this problem. The Fangy fins have a fillet, which is very effective at reducing ventilation, so they don't spin out, not even in chop. I have added a fillet to a Tectonic Weed Demon 23, and it seemed to reduce spinouts in (mild) chop quite a bit. But there's a limit to that - if the fin is too small for a board size (and rider skills), it stops working. Of course, fillets are just one of multiple things, and the best other deltas seem to perform very well without fillets (judging by reports and speeds posted, not by personal experience).
Sorry...I havn,t updated my website to add the latest fins. Here is what the Nuclear Weed mentioned earlier looks like...
