Hi everyone,
I know this is a bit random, but I'm trying to track down a 1986 documentary called Van Diemen's Land by Butterfly. My dad, Kevin Walton, was in it he did the trip with two others, a guy and a girl and it's all about the first sailboard circumnavigation of Tasmania. I followed an old thread from 2007 on here where someone mentioned they had it recorded on VCR, but that was a long time ago.
It would mean the world to see it. If anyone has a lead or remembers it, I'd be incredibly grateful!
The film appears on Screen Australia but there's no link to watch it. www.screenaustralia.gov.au/the-screen-guide/t/van-diemens-land-by-butterfly-1986/26273/
Golly did a crossing from the tip of Cape York to PNG the year before as well, don't know if they filmed it. Think it was Elysse Waring and maybe Rick Burnup( could have the spelling of the names wrong ) did the Tassie trip with him. Had some adventures with Golly on the NQ Funboard circuit and the PRO contest at Coolangatta back in the mid 80's. He followed the East Coast PRO contests in late 1984 and filmed a lot of it.
Yes, that's him aka Golly, my dad. He sadly passed away in 2015. It's really cool to hear from someone who knew him personally, first time in a long time. I actually came across some pics on a post Ric Burnup made. If you have any memories you'd like to share, I'd really appreciate it my name's Teagan, I'm one of his daughters, Ill share the pics when im allowed as new member

I used to live in Cairns Steagan, way back in the early 90's I owned a race board that was once your dad's, it was hollow construction and I think from memory your dad built it.
Dave's right, Elyse was the lady, I left FNQ about 10 years ago but Elyse was still in Cairns then, look her up.
Thank so much just watched it with my brothers, Means alot to see him. Such amazing footage of our dad in his prime. Will look into getting part 2.
Thank you again. Your a legend we have been trying on and off for years to find it.
I briefly worked with Ric Burnup in the 90s, he was one of the other two. Amazing guy with a long list of adventures. In addition to the Tassie adventure Ric did the first sailboard crossing to Papua New Guinea. I'm sure he was good company for your dad.
I think I know one of the others who did the circumnavigation - Dr Gavin Lesuer, I'll point him to this thread
