Hi. Does anyone know the cheapest way to send a longboard? I want to do RB worlds so want to move my gear from Perth to Brisbane and back. So far qantas QGO is $700, pack&send is $350 and that's only one way for board only.
Fine print for qantas baggage (sporting equipment) tells me I'm not even allowed to check in my windsurf rig on domestic flights.
Thanks

get a quote from ego

or

if it is going to be over 500 return you could justify chartering a board only and the rig can be baggage or charter the lot.

Thanks. Ego $270 for board one way. Charter kit is about $1000 so might be worth it for the convenience considering I can't take rig on domestic flight so that would be extra cost

I took some windsurf gear from Brisbane to Perth earlier in the year on Virgin. They allow items up to 3m. With wife and daughter taking carry-on, and with an extra bag allowed under my FF program, I had 4 pieces of up to 23kg each I could check-in.

I took a 240cm board, 1 big bag with mast and 3 sails and boom, a gazebo for cover on the beach and a gear bag. Much more flexible compared with Qantas whom have a 2.7m length limit and are choosy on what they will accept.

Your Raceboard will still need to be freighted, but at least you can bring the rest on Virgin.

I've found Virgin OK, similar experience to Mark. If you charter a complete set of equipment then you will be set for board and a 9.5 rig then just bring a mast and sail for your change down and you are set. I don't know what you type of board you have, but I found the Starboard Phantom easy to get on and sail (no quirks) when I chartered one for the first time.

Thanks for your help everyone. I've applied to charter a board and I'll go with Virgin so I can carry a mast and sail. Cheers
