Anyone got advice on suitability of a Liquid Force 9 meter kite for kiting in the waves? I'm looking at a 2014 model. Yeah, I'm a beginner but want to buy the right gear for where I aim to end up. Your tips would be most appreciated.
Best thing for the waves would be :
a 2012 cabrinha ids bar on a 2012 ozone edge
What ever you do though remember :
safety and all...Thanks
forget kiting buy a nice quad with a three batten sail then you will find out how suitable these things are in waves.getting back to your Question l have no idea about kites . try another forum.
Remember to apply as much downhoul as possible...
without proper downhaul your kite may fly away.... i think....
You have probably worked this much out, but Mobydisc's reply is the only useful one so far.
As a beginner kiter you need a kite with excellent handling and especially good relaunch capabilities - a freeride kite. It will work well in both flatwater and waves. It may seem economical but you do not want a specialty wave kite when you are starting out as it will be too difficult to handle. I am not familiar with all the brands but the Slingshot Rally or the Airush Lithium are excellent beginner kites.
how about a nice stable 5 batten then I'd agree with you.
brought a new maui sail 'Epic' 3 batten the response & weight savings is ridiculous. mainly for those knarly days .5 batten ssils still hold there place but.
You will be able to catch heaps of prawns and bait fish in the surf with a kite. Have a tractor handy on the beach to haul in your booty.![]()
