Hi
I'm potentially in the market for a light wind board. I'm 75kg and currently sailing a Starboard Kombat 87L. and an average sailor
Purpose sailing is river and if not too choppy in the ocean. I've looked at Tabou Rocket, 3S, JP All ride, JP x-cite so far (via the net)
I'm not sure what volume will suit my weight and board type to suit my ability. I have no problem water starting because i spend a bit of time in the water particularly when attempting a jibe, i like the taste of salt i guess
I'll need a bigger sail and mast to go with, probably looking for something between 6.2-6.5 - no cams

I've tried a Fanatic Skate ( freestyle), as a light wind board but I have gone back to my Starboard Futura 111 as it was much quicker to get on the plane and faster. Can handle small chop too.
you make me jealous
the equipment you cite as light wind equipment is smaller than my smallest
as an average heavyweight windsurfer of 105 kilos - i use a 6.3 with a 124 litre board in 40 to 60 kph winds (over 20 knots)
this is a reminder that IF your equipment is too small, is losing weight an option ??
however, one knot less required to plane seems to need a loss of 5 kilos ~ 10 pounds
so, if i lose the 20 pounds that i should, I will plane in 2 knots less wind
and obviously be more agile on the board !!!
thanks for the encouragement !!!

I'm a light weight Joe (65kgs)
....and to be fair I guess my comparison wasn't really fair as the Fanatic Skate was 17 litres smaller than my Futura and had a 22cm fin compared to the Futura's 38cm fin.
