One of my lifejackets says - Year of Manufacture 190802.
Was it made 2 August 2019, or 19 August 2002 ?

It is not worn, nor is it worn - and it was not made in year 1908...

the only one that makes sense. The year is always at the end.
only variable I know is month and day are interchanged at times, UK esp vs USA

Nope, Americans also often use a YMD format, as do others. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Date_format_by_country.

What country was it manufactured in?

Another vote for 2019 Aug 02 even if American. That way, the expiration dates will order/sort easily in even a simple database or spreadsheet.

It's a Liquid Life. Adult PFD Type 3
Manufactured in Fiji for PFD Australia Pty Ltd.

I bought it from an Op Shop last year for $5. No wear to paint/stickers. No yellowing anywhere. Totally flat - hasn't been worn.

There are changes coming, at least in NSW and Tasmania, from January next year. That's 20210101
Most windsurfers don't wear lifejackets, but when boating solo, it's compulsory.

It also needs the relevant Australian Standards compliance number as well to be legal

I always wear my life jacket. Where I sail there is no reason not to.

I never see the date other than month, day , year.
Born in the USA , long ago.
month can't be 19, so it's year or day. I agree what freakin country, from its condition it should be the common sense rule.
