Can some of you guys please tell me how to modify a sail to be illuminated with LED Lights?
I can't even see where I could buy one.

I see those 12v LED strips on Ebay and Aliexpress and also see a 500g 12v battery I could buy.

Also if anyone has some ideas on how I could rig up night lights in generally that would be great?
The removable boom clamp idea was nice www.nzl46.com/?p=217

Ultimately I do love not having any lights (except for a handheld/head-mount I can turn on in emergency) so that I can see clearly in the dark and see all the blue bio-luminescence flowing over the board :)

Thanks :) Sam

I just saw something in an Altronics brochure. EL wire? Looks like its a cable that glows.

For night sailing we use light sticks and zip ties.
A mate also attached a torch rig at front of boom like on bike handle bars.
But would only sail on good moon lit night.

Bad in the old day we used to sail at night. Strap a kerosine lamp to the front. Just had to be careful not to fall in or go too fast

Here's a selection of mine. The Ay-Up lights are water proof, rechargeable and have a very good light spread. They're used as 1 on the helmet and one on a mount just above the boom. The rope light is used along the trailing edge of the sail, the KA's have a screw in adjustment on the battens so its easy to attach another screw in with a hole to take the light. The last is a rescue beacon which goes on top of the mast and gives a great all-round light.

With night sailing you will lose, wind direction, where you are in the inlet and where home is. To help its not a bad idea to add a light source to the beach.
Tried light sticks....,useless unless you use lots. Also keep the light away from the sail as it will blind you.
