I turned up at Dendy on Friday evening and had a brief chat with one of the other guys there. Nice guy.

We sailed up and down for a while going for gybes etc.

He was obviously having a great time, but a couple of times he sailed past without returning my grin or waving or anything...

I had a word with him on the beach afterwards and he was totally unaware of this faux pas. There were families near by and they might have thought that all windsurfers hated each other..

We need to stamp this out guys.

maybe he suffers the water equivalent of "white line fever" ......and you shouldn't have been going faster than him!!

He probably came from a kiting background and knows no better!

he probably just didn't feel the need to blow you a kiss every time you passed each other,

maybe he was concentrating, maybe he was lost in thought, maybe he was just sick of waving hello.

that sort of lack of love is only going to lead to one thing (www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=64438&whichpage=2 .....)

When a windsurfer does that to you, there is one real solution: my brother and i do it to all the snobs on the water, we yell out when we sail pass them and go, woo hoo, woo hoo real loud, with the sound of a girls voice, it throws em of track every time and least they look at ya.. We make the sound so loud that they nearly fall off there boards, even if there is no wind and we are slogging along. We love stirring the snob kiters as well at inverloch..

Maybe you should spray water in their face. I read somewhere else that this is acceptable protocol. Specially if they don't get out of your way.
( ohhh hang on. That might have been on the kiting forum. My mistake.)

You were sailing on his patch! I am the same way. I get to my favourite spot, rig up and go sailing, and before you know all these other guys come along and join in!! Sometimes there can be up to a dozen windsurfers out there, and some of the cheeky bstds even wave to me as if they have a right to be there!!
