I thought I would share this observation.
After a heavy session today , about to derig the kit.
I witness a classic kite boarding incident. Two kiters were out in approx 65km square area of water and they manage to take each other out with a direct kite impact on the other kiter's head. This was full power kite direct impact on the other kiters head.
Almost a knock out.The kite was destroyed. The lesson here is why do these people go out in conditions , beyond their skill level. The lesson was learnt the hard way.
Could have been a nomination for the Darwin award.![]()
Months of almost no wind, finally some wind on the weekend, what would you do?
Sorry to hear that someone came to grief, but at least they got out there and had some fun. The alternative (sitting on the couch and getting fat) just isn't as appealing.
Think of the stories they'll get to tell their grandchildren!
Yesterday, I witnessed a lone kiter getting dragged by his kite along the shallows...I had just got to the beach & was about to rig up. He managed to get out of the water, back to his board and all under control (I offered to help, but he said he could handle it...although I was more worried about the beach goers that were ducking the lines!)
Anyways, the thing that cracked me up was after I had gone to say hello, had a quick chat, and was walking off I overheard him say to his mate "did you see that jump? The biggest I've ever done!" Could've had something to do with the fact it was a very gusty northerly, and the (inexperienced) kiter had no clue! I reckon he'll be a bit sore today...
No major injuries (luckily), but turned me off the sport even more...
...I had a great sesh afterwards though!![]()
as i found out this weekend going out beond your experience can prove fatal.lucky im an extremely strong fit swimmer.
that sure is painfull!
i've seen a windsurfing instructor get hit on a stray kite diving to his head and in comparison-a big flat rock falling on top of the coyote's head from atop the cliff![]()
