My local shop has a JP super cross 86l which I am considering.
I am about 86KG and would be looking at a medium to high wind blaster. Does anyone have any experience as to the handling qualities and wind wind range of said board. Thanks
much better than a Mistral!
I have ridden one and they are super quick and turn well. But if you are 86kg it would need 2b ur 2nd board. If so, in strong wind (say 20knts) it would be fast.
I wiegh bout the same as you Nick and have a JP Supercross 96 as my bigger board. I love it, very fast and versatile. Great for speed on calmer sea states & flat water with straps outboard and larger sails (PB 34.1 knts at Sandy Pt). Awesome for bump & jump with straps inboard. Have even used in the waves as a light wind board.
Highly recommended!
Thanks guys I think it may be on the small side for me, probably better with about 96l but with the wind we are getting at the moment it stirs the juices.
Just to hijack (and add).......
What are the main diff's between 'Super-cross' & 'Super-sport'?
I'm looking at downsizing to a board about my weight/vol-ratio (110kgs) for waves/chop, my 165 xcite is way too big, I have a 135lt, but after hopping on a mate's 120lt last weekend
, I realised I could go smaller...
Supercross is the older version I think JP have made Supersport 2007/08. Volumes differ across the two different ranges, however if you go to the JP site you can look at the products from previous seasons.
Nick, I've got the 82 l 2004 model. Its an easy to ride plug and play quick board, gybes gr8 and goes upwind well so long as fully powered. I weigh 80 kg and it planes OK in 15 knts with a 6 m sail. I've used a 7 m sail on it OK. I would imagine that the latter models would be even better.
