Which is the better planning board of the two?
JP: 165lt, 235x92, 56 fin
RRD: 155lt, 240x87, 46 fin
Sail: Maui Sails Titan GSX, 10m2, 3 cambers freerace
Wind: 10-12 knts
Rider weight: 90 kilos
Thanks!
Obviously, longer wider, and floatier.
But you did NOT choose RRD's lightwind board, which is 91 wide.
I recently acquired a Fanatic falcon light wind board 230x90 159 Lt and it doesn't seem to plane as easy as my formula board. I really wanted the JP slw but the falcon came up so I grabbed it. Ive been told from several owners of JP slw that they plane easier than formula boards due to the long flat section at the rear of the board. If your looking to plane in the lightest wind possible this could be the board for you.

RRD lightwind board? Which board is it? I cannot find it.

I think LD means the RRD light-wind 150.

4starboard ultrasonics here and they go great. SBUS 147x 92-95cm. I've been using Patrik Slalom 150 x90 wind CLSL2 44 fin and it's the go. Only 7.8-8.0 sails tho as we foil too. and because we foil I'm going for Patrik 140 board to cover the same outings. I'll be faster again. Patrik 150 available now too. LOL
JP hands down. Exactly what they are meant to do.
The firemove is to have fun jibing in light winds less to get the most speed out of conditions.
RRD RF -91, from '16 thru '19 was their lite wind slalom board for 7-10 meter sails.
In '19, they crossed it over to windfoil with a 850 sq cm front wing on a 120 fuze, since reduced to 115 for '20.
Board worked great with a 50 cm Rainbow Race or a 61 Debo M with 7.7 race sail.
NOT the blue Exocet windfoi

No.
RRD made the H-Fire 91.
Geez, sold it early August, old fart's moment.
Still, it was their lite wind slalom board, '16 thru '19.
With 16 boards in the garage, I don't remember their names.
Maybe don't offer advice based on ignorance? I know that would cut your post count by 90% but perhaps worth a try.
Ideas matter in the real world.
You might focus on numbers and names, if anal is your preferred style.
Fact is, RRD made a 91 cm lite wind board, which you obviously didn't know about....or was too focused on numbers, dates, and names.

X-Fire Lightwind. In production until a few years ago. There's plenty of reviews out there.

Err 4 ultrasonics, do you mean for sale?
At 90kg and 10-12 knots and a 10m sail - planing is not likely to happen. I weigh 75 kg and can plane with moderate pumping on my formula board and a 9.2 m sail in 10 knots. In 12 knots of wind, you will have to pump like crazy to maybe get a 165L board on plane at your weight. You need a bigger board or more wind.

I'm 102kg and on my old SB Formula 161 and North Warp 9.6, 8 to 10 knots was no problem. Since replaced the SB F161 with an SB Ultrasonic 147, and still no problem getting going in 8/10 knots with an 9.6 and an old Deboichet 58 fin. And thinking about it, in 12 knots, the isonic 134 (85cm) is also fine in 12 knots (but not much fun in 10 knots). My local is flat water so maybe this helps.

Lol, four on the water. One maybe and Patrik Sl150 is available. I am going onto a Patrik Sl140 and now foiling if lighter.

Just to be clear, my estimation of wind speed is a result of 37 years of windsurfing, mostly in fresh water. Small white caps begin to form at 10 knots. If I don't see any caps, I don't bother to try and plane with my 9.2. I am almost always on a Deboichet 70 fin as well, and am on an old SB Formula 160. I also have an 11.0 sail, but it's range is so limited in gusty lake conditions, that I don't use it anymore. I could plane with it in no cap conditions if I pumped my brains out.
I made a review of the rrd lightwind some years ago:
www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/Windsurfing/Review/RRD-X-File-light-wind-v1-2014?page=1
After that I started foiling all the time and got a dedicated foil board instead, but for light wind windsurfing it was a really nice board.
