i saw photos of fanatic and (i think) tabou's version too, looked like tabou artwork but not sure. are these the parallel rail boards? can anyone elaborate on the pros and cons?
I reckon Stone was first. In the beginning of last year o i saw Mr Stone in the water with his. By memory i think he said "thought i'd chop of what doesn't get used"
Our local guys rock. I spoke to a guy from Belgium in Lancelin about a month ago and he was sailing a Stone board and Servene sails. He said the board is tough...can't kill it. And he actually told me he had broken too many JP's so sticking with Stone.
Sweet, I had a feeling that this was about to happen, why not? Surfboards are doing it, Kiting boards are doing it, and SUP boards are doing it, it only makes sense.
The nose rarely is in the water anyway, adding zero to flotation or performance, it's just something to poke a hole in your sail, or something to get smashed by the mast.
I've cut the noses off two of my boards and never felt like something is missing, other than a threat to my sail.
Old "flip-tip" ws boards are great for this modification, you'll never miss the tip, and look more current in the mean time.
Bit rough ey. You should see my wife
Fires up well but![]()

Anyone got a reckoning on the length?
Looks like a stock standard 2017 triple forward board. That and a 300 mast
+1 on Kauli's board![]()
So one person made it work and they all race to copy it.
So next year there will be one or two stubbies that work, the rest will be crap.
2017 they will all work well.
A $3K gamble for the punter. Go for it. I'll pass for the moment.

Yup. Exactly. They think we're idiots.
i remember seeing the tabou one over a year back, not saying it's the very first produced, but it might be before the fanatic and jp ones. i think these are different graphics than the pics i saw. i know people have been cutting the noses off the stone boards for a while (like the frog boards) but aren't these different again? i like the idea, hope it's a step forward ![]()
There are some good pics of the new Tabou Pocket Wave here with the short stubby concept:
