I was sick at the time and on Amoxellin to clear up chest infection, I threw down a red bull ? because I felt crap
Long story short I had no wind for my heat so came into protest? no luck , I couldn't get off the beach:(Then later on I went sailing as finals where being played out, good wind came up and I went for a specky for heli shot big stall fwd slammed in rest was history Nearly carked it

That sucks.

Mate I played footy with years ago broke his leg playing footy and didn't have cover. Used an alias given to him by one of the other players, but after a few tokes on the green whistle goes to the ambo "Just call me Gaz, that's my real name - I'm just using the other name so I don't have to pay."

$2k bill for 20m drive.

This is an interesting topic and i was thinking also what would happen if by accident we ran into a swimmer or another windsurfer and it was our fault? what sort of insurance policy is available that does not cost a fortune?

Join a sailing club. Most clubs these days have Yachting Australia cover included in the membership although some clubs ask you to have your own 3rd party as well.

Ah, just stick all your assets in your spouse's name. With no assets to take, they call you a "man of straw", and nobody sues a man of straw.
Just don't get wet- men of straw go rotten if they get wet.

Having recently returned to sailboarding after many years off I wanted to make sure that I was covered for exactly this eventuality.
I rang SGIO, who are my household contents insurers, and found that, provided I am not sailing in an organised competition, race or regatta or for reward, I am covered under my Public Liability Insurance section against injuring others. Being under the influence of drugs or alcohol would nullify the policy.
I suspect that other insurers do the same thing.....might be worthwhile checking?
