Hi All
(I've also put a similar post on the SUP forum.)
I'm looking for an inflatable windsup and after doing some research, two boards stand out, RED PADDLE 10'6" RIDE WINDSUP and STARBOARD WINDSUP INFLATABLE 11'2" ZEN.
I surf 95% of the time (sup when small/flat swell) and don't windsurf, but watching guys at a rivermouth recently playing with windsups made me decide to get one.
Anyone got experience with them? Sail size 5.5m for a inflatable sup? Also, a new setup is around 2K - 2,5K, so if anyone out there is selling a good used setup, please lemme know.
Hi,
I purchased the red paddle SUP/Windsurf 6months ago. The kids love it as a SUP. It inflates fairly easily but my wife can't inflate fully herself as she can't generate the force needed for the last 1min of inflating to go from 10psi to 20-22psi. (I may get the electric pump for her)
I have used it as a SUP approx 8 or 9 times and it seems to be fairly efficient on the water. This summer I will be using it to teach kids windsurfing. You need a mechanical joint for the mast base universal to reduce the strain on the mast base built into the board.(can't use a rubber universal like a normal board)
SUP comes with a slot for adding a fin to provide a type of centre board.
I like the weight of the board as it is not too heavy. It is very stable on the water so should be excellent for learning to windsurf.
The trolley backpack/bag and the collapsable paddle it comes with are good. Inflates and deflates quickly. Overall I am happy with it because we have used it a lot over winter as it is easy to throw it in the back of the camper or 4WD when we are out and about.
I have only used it once in the surf and I am not a surf board rider so I can't comment on its performance in waves. It did seem to go sideways a bit. (maybe due to the single fin???)
