I would be more worried about meeting Vic Hislop on the water. His bloodlust might blur his eyesight!

That huge portion messes me. But what kind of shark it is?

It's a Hammerhead, and a friggin big one too.

And I ask the same question too landyacht. What's the point? If he hooked it with 15lb line whilst hunting down kingies and then fed a poverty stricken village in some tiny pacific island I applaud his achievement, but he didn't. Man and his ego is more dangerous than any shark.

Big enough to use as a board! At least it is a bottom feeder so it would eat you..if it was a Bull shark I'd never sail again!Mind you I just had a nother look at those jaws & bottom feeder or not Im feeling a bit nervous..

Bottom feeder- you done much fishing You catch them at exactly the same water level as bullsharks only hammerheads fight better, actually you are probably more likely to see a hammerhead on the surface. Don't believe all the hype and BS you hear in the media, bullsharks are lazy and opportunistic- people have fought off big bull sharks, can't say you'd have the same luck with a hammerhead of the same size.

I'm not a fan of Hislop even though alot of what he says is true. He didn't catch it, read the story- it was caught whilst eating another shark. He bought it to add to his collection.

And it there was a minimum size look at the little fellow in the back right of the trailer.
A sad day when a specimen like that is not released back.

I dissapprove of ANY unnecessary death, so I would release the shark.

Having said this, I don't like man's simpathy to other predators.
Who determines that "the specimen like this" deserves to live more than a mullie?

The fact that it takes a mullie a year or two to get to their size or breeding age. Sharks it can take 30 years or more (I think they said somewhere that shark was 40 years old), the ecosystem is unable to support large numbers of them and they dont have massive breeding success. Apex predators are also highly susceptible any environmental changes such as pollution etc.

Panda even having been hit by a box jelly, if that kid survived I cannot begin to imagine how painful that would have been not to mention the scars for life
