366 is a massive number. Its the yoof event as well. My local windsurf shop owner has 4 kids, the eldest is too old for youth now, but the other 3 are competing. I saw three Shaws sitting by the sea shore
Boris was 2nd at the Euro IQ foil. Darcey was 4th at one of the IQ foil events this year. I think its the 1st international event for the youngest, Milo.
Windsurfing Fleets at these international events has been booming for a long time. Very European centric, which is the hardest thing.
I know that Grae went to a Techno worlds and there was close to 500 kids.
He then went to a RSX event at Palma and there was 370 racers (one of the last RSX events before IQ come in).
The IQ Foil events are all huge these days. OZ has had a pretty healthy representaion, but getting more yough people to these events is paramount. Incredable experiences......
There has been a livestream for the racing, and it was pretty good to watch today, complete with drone footage and live on-screen race positions. The young commentator is a bit eccentric, but he's usually on-point at telling us what is happening.
You can find the livestream on the iq-foil YouTube channel, and it's left up there if you missed it live.
Myself, Max and Andre have been having lots of fun but also learning lots.
Good luck, must be quite an experience with so many others out on the water.

Another good luck. If there are lessons the rest of us can learn from, please share even if it's just observations like things you that surprised you, you expected and didn't see, or turned out more important in a big fleet than you'd have imagined, etc.
We all need more practice is the biggest thing we have learnt
. I need to train pumping, reaching, bottom mark rounding and go out in 25 knots and big waves more.
I jsut noticed Andre had a 5th in a course race Silver Fleet....That is an excellent result.... Keep soaking up the leanings. Lots to practice when bank in OZ.... Sail Sydney, Melbourne, Club and Local events....
Is 366 entered windsurfers the largest windsurfing regatta ever?
It's a great fleet, but not the biggest. The very first Windsurfer worlds, in the Bahamas in 1976, had 456 competitors. I think they cracked down on qualification after that.

yes I'm going to train so much harder now
Andre had a awesome day yesterday it was really gnarly 1.5 meter chop mixed with 1 meter waves and 25 knots. We all know what the standard is now for sure. unfortunately my new helmet and my Powerade got stolen out of my bag today. spewing.
regatta is done, now its home time
Grae,
Great effort to those involved.
It would be good to see IQ fleet grow at club level throughout oz clubs for the teens/Young adults and also the masters !
Are there many boards available in OZ ?

Thats terrible news mate. You'd think your gear would be safe at a tournament like that. Disappointing to hear.
I was on the better end of the thieves. some people had back wings taken. An event organiser got his jacket stolen. many peoples watches and foil covers were stolen.
I mean it was obviously sailors because it was petty stuff. i think if organised crime it would have been more expensive stuff (Bags, Masts, Sails ect. The park was shut each night and secure and i think patrolled. it most likely happened from sailors because its kind of hard to tell who's who especially when everyone is packing up and thats when the most stuff was stolen.
