Another know all kid, just what we need. They usually commit suicide in 10 years time when they realise no one is interested in listening to them as we all moved on and they haven't.

She flew 5000 miles to speak there. Thanks for contributing to the problem. Is she going to start living in a bark hut, eating lentels and drinking water? She needs to stop listening to people telling her the sky is going to fall in, because its not.

Are you the same guy that posted that Oprah Winfrey dribble a while back? Maybe you need to fork out a few grand and get yourself to an Anthony Robins seminar . Blah

She is the daughter of David Suzuki, which sort of explains her (strong) point of view. I think her speech sounds like someone else has written it and are not really the words of someone that age.

This was filmed in 1992, and you are right, the sky hasn't fallen in. I find it annoying when people complain about what 'others' have done, but aren't able to offer any solutions. It is easy to criticise what is wrong with the world, but it is harder to actually solve the problems. Having said that, at least she was trying to be vocal in something she believes in.

If you listen closely at the end I think she says something about preferring to sail in Jeri Coacora, which is really why she went to Brazil :)

That explains a lot. Thanks for that information about her being David Suzuki's daughter and it being filmed in 1992.

Basically it sounds like David wrote the speech but because no one at the conference wanted to listen to him, he got his daughter to read it for him. It doesn't sound as good for a middle aged man to ask the delegates to save the planet for him as it does for a little girl to ask the same question.

There is so much money and politics going on with the whole environmental debate now that its really polluted and sullied the science involved. Plenty of people have their careers and livelyhoods tied up in theories that now do not seem to be backed up by the facts.

Too many people say we have to change our ways while they make little effort to curb their own impact upon the environment. If people really wanted to limit their impact on the environment they would only have one child and they would live like our ancestors did, no car, little goods, few services, no electricity and no fresh running water. No one wants to live like that and thats the problem we face. There are no easy answers, despite what little girls say.

No one seemed interested in what she was saying?
They all put on their headphones and turned on their walkmans
