Has anyone come across something like this on the market? I've been working on this removable seat add-on for my waist harness for foiling. It's inspired by the Liberty harness but offers the flexibility to easily switch back to a traditional waist harness for fin use.
While I've seen a full seat attachment for a kite harness, I haven't found a hybrid version like this, or one that can be used with multiple harnesses. With a few tweaks, I believe it could be a great product for manufacturers to develop - either as a standalone accessory or as a harness with an optional removable seat. This would give riders the flexibility to use it depending on conditions and gear choice. I think there are a lot of people who prefer a waist harness but occasionally would like to use a hybrid seat?
A few improvements I'd suggest: side clips for faster attachment, a more efficient way to secure the wrap-around section, more durable materials/construction. Would love to hear your thoughts!

Vincent GER1 has been experimenting with this too, with a Duotone waist harness:
-Regular fit for fin:
-With straps for foil:

Wouldnt be easier to get a sit harness and undo the leg straps , need a way to tidy them up..
I don't think so; a regular seat harness won't provide sufficient back support when used as a waist harness.

That would be true for the classic race seat harnesses, but there are free-ride harnesses that have even more support than a standard waist harness. I'm using a hybrid harness from Ascan (a "kite" harness with windsurf hook on it) and really like it. I use the same harness with anything from Formula down too wave-sailing. The legs straps are removable, but I have never seen the need for removing them.
A commercial product that can be fitted/adapted too any existing harnesses would certainly be great, and save us a lot of money. The cost of the liberty harness makes it hard to justify the purchase of yet another harness...

Windsurfing Hawaii sold something similar back in the 80s when seat harnesses were in their infancy. In flat water it did the job but like anything that tries to do too much, it didn't do anything particularly well. New ones might be better but either way, look after your body and especially don't compromise with your back support/protection.

Yes, these do exist, but you then have to pay 220 euro and get yet another harness that might not fit well at all, just to get the leg-straps.
Something that one could add onto any favourite waist-harness sounds like a great idea, and it would hopefully cost less than 220 euro.
