Painted parts of board deck with automotive enamel paint, and then top coated with clear enamel, was told by Rustoleum support to wait at least 5 days, but preferably 7 days, before exposing to salt water. Anyone know how to tell if it is cured before 7 days? Wondering if temps higher than 72 degrees F (like 85-90) could make it cure faster.
Thanks!

Oh my I am in trouble. I waited as little as overnight before taking a board out after painting!

Well it depends on what kind of paint you used duzzi, lacquer paints "dry" by solvent evaporation, and do not cure. Enamel paints actually cure in a way somewhat like epoxy, so need time. But the 7 day cure time is for buffing/polishing the paint, because it has to be hard for that. I am not going to do that, just want to use in salt water.
Tried the thumb nail test, and the paint dents, so not cured.
Guess I will just wait the 7 days after applying topcoat, do not want to mess up the paint job, and worse have to clean it off and repaint![]()
