I find I have improved balance skills when standing on public transport ! Just bend that back leg a bit and RIDE !!!![]()
some humourless w^nk#r who doesn't like some of us due to posts we made, and he red thumbs all my posts. One of the regular trolls I think.
Anyway serious answer: it puts my back "in".
If I don't sail for a month I get a couple of vertebrae in between my shoulder blades that slip out and cause pain. One sail fixes it... but no other stretch or anything puts 'em in. Weird but kinda cool excuse to sail ![]()
Windsurfing has been good as it has stopped me spending all my spare cash on cars... which of course, now goes on windsurfing kit...
It's also given me an excuse to travel all over the place just looking for some decent wind.
Mark, do you mind if I borrow your 'need to get the back in' reason? Sounds like a good one to me!
I rang my wife to say I saw a sea monster
she told me to stop drinking and come home straight away.
FNova, anyone can use that back excuse it works well. Go for it fellas
My Physio says its the best sport for my back as long as I have the correct stance. I soon know when I am not standing properly on the board.
Stops my wife spending money on horses and stops me building a deck a big deck.
Maybe a big deck would improve my life also. Wood fired oven, BBQ, old surfboards as seats, spa, beer fridge. Damn I could almost ......... nah cant go there
Restarted windsurfing in 2007 to get some exercise in an effort to improve my health. It helped me appreciate the value of exercise again and so took up two further activities. No point doing exercise you don't enjoy as you generally won't stick to it long term.
Lost 7 Kg and feeling better. Bank balance isn't looking too good lately though.
Exposure to hour after hour of direct sunshine means that the next time I return to the UK to visit family I can avoid jocular questioning along the lines of:
''you must be the palest man in Australia''; or better still..
''you did say you'd moved to Australia and not Austria...'' etc etc.
Despite liberal applications of Factor 30, I've developed a modest 'touch' of colour. I'm now perhaps the 2nd palest man in Australia - but its a good enough reason to windsurf.
I used to be a fat 114kg blob, so I took up running to get back into windsurfing.
I lost 27 kg and successfully ran a half marathon in the process
Way fitter and as a result, get more lovin.
bought my first wave board this week.
sailing lets me get away from project deadlines, telemarketers, and irate loan sharks.
on the flip side, I am told I am intolerable to live with if i don't get to sail for two weeks.
Don't know about my life, but definately improved my wife's as a lot more chores get done when it's windy.
It's stopped me from sitting in front of my computer all day, browsing forums for anything remotely......
HANG ON!!![]()
I'm obviously still doing it...
-13 kg with a massive smile while doing it and is a complete break from the world of work although never long enough. ![]()
If I didnt windsurf, I would have less than half the mates I have now.
Windsurfing has allowed me to ride waves when the seabreeze is in.
Windsurfing has been the best thing I have ever done.
I wish I had started it alot earlier in life.

Windsurfing provides one half of the "deep" question " what is better SEX or WINDSURFING". I personally could never let windsurfing win so must continually strive to improve sex.
....can only form an opinion if both sampled on the same day.
