had the go pro for about a year and it is almost foolproof. It can take single shots, a burst, every 2 or 5 seconds or video. only 3 dramas I've had are that you must use lithium batteries in cold weather, if wearing it on the helmet and you knock it with the mast it can turn off ( usually when entering the water) and if you use it in upside down mode remember to switch it back (otherwise use windows movie maker to invert it). only downsides to me are the wide angle makes the swell look smaller and anything in the distance is lost.

I have a POV1 I use for dirt bike riding.

Separate bullet camera and recorder.

Works a treat.

Hope to give it a go on the board this year.... when it warms up a bit!

Hi,
The gopros are pretty good particularly given the choice you have when it comes to mounting them on your board or rig. I totally agree that they don't really take too kindly to the cold VIC water! You definately need lithium batteries or ones which have a high milli amp rating.

There's another cam called a Predator 360 which is pretty cool. It is a bullet cam which feeds into a waterproof harddrive. The quality is a bit better better than the go pro but then again it's double the price (about $1000 AUS).
See you out there,
mick

Must agree with the variety mounting options. lots of bits to stick or buckle or bracket and screw on to flat or curved surfaces. You can go top or side of helmets, anywhere up the mast, under or over the boom or on your wrist for boogie boarding. I use a stick on for the front of the SUP or any board. If you are into safety cords, you can buy a stick on for a surfboard legrope and use that in case the original bracket breaks. I use an EZ - leash plug by Surfco Hawaii from Goodtime.
