Yep, although i've only ever done the full on 'oh ****' bail once. Usually I just take it on

NB i'd sail in surf that big maybe 2-4 times a year so opportunity for said bail seldom presents itself.

That's a pathetic bailout. He should have kept going so as to do the ultimate backloop - the one where you hit the lip as it throws forward, sending you and your kit backwards towards the beach upside down back into the wave to were just trying to get over. Of course its impossible to land. Happened to me at Long Reef last week on a similar wave.

When I was in the carpark packing up after the session, this guy (as it turns out, kiter) walks up to me and says "You should sell at that gear". I reply "Why?". He says he saw the wipeout described above and that I'm wasting my time windsurfing!!!

I reply with "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger!" - This guy has no idea of how addictive/exciting/fun/exhilarating windsurfing can be, even when you get trashed!

Getting flogged is half the fun in any boardsport, maybe the guy was just completely soft.
