Hi All,
Looking for some advice.
I had been using a sliding bar harness for years (Dakine Seat) until it disintegrated at the Gloo.
I am now using a Pryde Seat with a fixed hook, no spreader bar travel from side to side on the harness.
At the time I did not think it would be much different but I am beginning to really dislike the fixed hook.
Can anyone recommend a good (STRONG) seat harness with a travelling hook position?
It would be worth you looking into the new MauiFinCo. accesorie lines, There are 3 harnesses, Seat, Waist and a new Low Profile Waist.
These harnesses all come with a fixed bar, or sliding bar, Not two different harnesses, but on the same harness.
The look to be pretty well made, and the look awsome too![]()
but this is just my two cents...
I used to have a patlove harness, wich i loved, But i cant remember to model. But it may not hurt tolookin to PL too.

Sliding bars seem to be harder to find ................ i rather the harness be locked on the body and you can slide the hook to rotate your body,
having the whole harness move,,,,,, dosnt work with out riding up.
Then....... having the whole thing so locked is not comfortible.
You do wonder what manufactures think about designing stuff.
Had a classic argument with a mate about the vecro set up .........just for putting the harness on and tightening it,,,,, even before worrying about the spreader bar issues.
Having to use your left hand to secure it .............(No Manufactures names) but come on get it together............... ok if your left handed.
ITS NICE TO BE ABLE TO WRENCH IT ON TIGHT AROUND YOUR FAT GUTS TO START WITH.
GOOD LUCK
Hi Graceman.
We have retro fitting slider kits for Da Kine harnesses.. $20!
These fit on the newer quick release Da Kine harnesses.
I'm like you.. I've sailed sliders since the '80s and find fixed a real pain.
Cheers Jez www.2ndwind.com.au
Graceman, I under stand your pain having just bought a new harness to replace my Dakine seat. Tried all the new Dakine harnesses but couldn,t get any to fit all that well so I settled for a Pro Limit that had good support but with a fixed bar.I hate sailing with it.
It almost wreaked my back and I spent a lot of time trying to find a compromise setting for my gear. I,m now in the process of making some new SS clips to take a sliding bar which should suit any harness and is easy to make. I will post some pics when its finished. Make sure the harness fits you before you buy.
To all Harness makers please bring back the slider option ![]()
Yep, speak to a few people who have had the Dakine Surf-Seat and they know what I had.
A wonderful power seat, all round harness with great support and a sliding bar.
Great for pushing up wind and standing on a rail and great for down wind changing the hook position to get the sail square and your weight back.
This also had a centre strap to set the max height of the slider [:-(] I miss that bit too.
Is it just my imagination but are all these manufacturers now making harnesses geared more to kite surfing ![]()
