been having issues with harness lines (ones with a clamcleat) I do windfoiling and my harness lines flop all over the place , I've tried making the rope thicker by putting a thicker core but im not sure how to fit a core in-without breaking my fids, I had my coach recommend a coat hanger that worked great , but I could shorter it enough as the clothes line got to the clear.
anyone got some diy ideas? (Can't afford to dump 400 bucks on harness lines) or ideas to make a nice thick rope that doesn't move in wind.

Thanks I use vinyl tube already, but since it's adjustable there will always be a bit of rope hanging around when your unhooked and have it long, thst rope twists around and makes it harder to hook in. Thanks
I've got a set of the expensive harness lines, yeah I balked at the price (these ones?)
Yeah, not cheap. I almost went with a much cheaper rope set (like what you've got I'm guessing), but when I saw how they worked, I figured they'll be better in the long run.
the key thing that makes them better is they run the rope line and tube back behind the stiffened material so the rope can't twist up into a coiled up unhookable mess. Maybe you can recreate this to a degree by making a stainless steel bracket with a 90 degree bend in the end, with a hole drilled to fit the tube, that attaches to the cleat at the other end, with the distance restricted to the length the rope goes out to so the tube can't slip out. That way the tube can slide up and down as required, and keep the harness lines rigid. Maybe a dud idea.. I'm not an engineer.
if Patrik (or any other manufacturer) made a cheaper version, with just the rope adjustment, but the same piece of stiffened material all the way down, I'd have bought that instead.

Thanks, I've seen the patrik but I was more trying to recreate the (tuna?) harness lines, or a longer version of the chinook ones (that work fine, the rope is just too short, if I could find a rope long enough my issue would be solved. Thanks for ur advice

Vinyl tubing doesn't work. You need polyurethane or something equally as tough.
I'm using a similar setup and found if you fix one end of the tubing into the webbing it doesn't twist and stays reasonably still

Hand sew it with an sewing awl, designed for that purpose. I carry one with me, and have repaired harness lines in an emergency, just don't stab your self with it while doing it.
One of these will do the job with the right needle and thread.
