When I bought a new boom recently, picked up some Pro Limit harness lines (26"), assuming the same length as my 26" Flying Object lines.
Found the PL lines uncomfortable, dropped out of hook and flopped around off the boom. When i went to change the old lines (FO) to new boom realised there was a big difference in length. They also sit nice and rigid off boom and easy to get into as well.
Question... what does the 26" refer to. I would assume distance from boom to inside of fully extended loop(?).

I bought a few sets of FO 30" lines and couldn't use them - they were heaps shorter than the Da Kine 30's I had been using. Not sure what is going on there - maybe FO need a new ruler??
Not that much different than the sail sizing quandary that happened about 30 years ago.
Does the sail size include the mast sleeve with all brands or just some of them?
Most windsurf magazine refers to where the line joins the boom when properly set up. ie. The part that swings. Neil Pride lines refers to this distance.
ALL other brand is buyers beware or measure it out before purchase.

Long lines means more of your weight off the board, which should mean it's easier to get your board powered up especially in the medium or lighter winds. More control off the wind too. Downside - with longer lines it's harder to take the weight thru your harness and with less weight on your board, controlling the trim is harder in strong conditions.
i use 24's but I'm thinking of going back to 26's.
On differences in line length - best to check before buying as its a common problem.
I prefer to have my lines very close together but it can lead to point loading.
The 26'' refers to 26 somethings , some somethings are bigger than others. And the other somethings can sometimes be smaller.
Some things arn"t what they seem.![]()
NP lines squeak on my hook !

You can set Clipharness lines to any length you want and they don't swing
In my experience the clips break .

AFAIK the latest design doesn't have this issue. My biggest gripe is that I think they are hard on the grip, especially skinny booms.
