Is anyone going to this? I think its on this week.
Anyone care to comment on what they learned on this in the past?
I went last year and learnt a lot from it. This year it is Jan 10-12. I could do a planing gybe before attending but I still got lots of tips and now gybe more consistently. I tack better. I water start and beach start better. I can tune my gear better. My stance is better. I can get planing faster. Guy is a very good teacher and has a sense of humour too so you'll have fun while you learn. Highly recommended!
Big fan boi of Cribby's!![]()
Done 3 of his courses and my sailing has improved significantly.
What you can learn is only limited by the time and energy that you have available.
I have improved my gybes, tacks, wavesailing and most importantly these skills have enabled me to get stoked sailing pretty crappy conditions because I can get so much more out of them.
Do it!
Cribby is very good at constructive critique. To get the most out of the course you must be prepared to just get in to the whole approach (check your ego at the door) and not try and justify what you currently do. His methods have been honed over thousands of people. Sometimes it is hard to see / hear your efforts being broken down but the results are worth it.
I can thoroughly recommend it. I did the course last year with the view to improving my gybes but I learned so much more, even in areas I thought I knew a lot about. Guy is an excellent and practical instructor and a fun and comfortable person to be around. The video review shows that what you think you are doing may be far removed from what you are actually doing. The course is expensive but you won't regret spending the money. My sailing has improved heaps after doing the course last year. I am doing it again!

I attended one of his courses last year and thoroughly recommend it,
no matter what your current level is you will learn something.

What if there is no wind? Like this weekend
I've done a few Cribby courses now and I can honestly say its amazing how much he can teach you on the low to no wind days. It doesn't seem to matter what the wind conditions or the skill level of the sailors, everyone learns and takes away much more than they expected.
Highly recommended and loads of fun!
I am very glad to hear all this. I am signed up for the course ![]()

There was even less wind last year and it was about 40 degrees every day but we still learnt heaps. The advantage of low wind is that you don't get so tired from heaps of sailing.

Yeah ok i listened to you peeps in the forum and I managed to get on the course for some tuition. Best think i did, learnt so much throughout the two days that i could attend. my sailing immidiately improved, i'm still no champion but comfortable with the kit i have. So smooth sailing ahead. Thanks Sotired for starting the discussion and thanks to my wife for saying "do it honey". If anyone ever asks me "should i do the Guy Cribb intuition? or anything else" i say yes go for it. No matter what level you're at. I'm a happy sailor![]()
yes, I agree with vpar. I also attended for 2 days and have learnt soo much. We had limited wind which actually made it better to learn some rig handling on the beach before the seabreeze came in (as limited as it was this weekend).
I thoroughly recommend it

it wasn't from demonstrating my then windsurfing skills ![]()
The course was absolutely brilliant, even though we only had light wind. I can't say enough about Guy Cribb as an instructor - he has a gift. Not only is he an extremely skilled windsurfer but he has a way of conveying his knowledge in easy to understand bite sized chunks, in a very pleasant manner which is never condescending or critical. I gained just as much this year as last year - different things. It is going to take a while to assimilate it all but my windsurfing will improve. Even when there is no wind Guy finds really useful things to do. I think I found the no wind session more useful than the on water sessions! Definitely worth doing the course a second time, and even if no wind is forecast!
Been a while since I posted. I also attended the Guy Cribb course and have been gushing to my mates as to how awesome it was. The bloke is a fair dinkum legend. There on the dot and would stay as long as the sun was still up and people still able to be there. I didn't expect to learn as much as I did.
The course was fun and pretty intense as in he worked us pretty hard. Well worth it.
Good luck to all the other people in the course and no doubt I'll see you on the water sometime.
