Thumbs Up

Hi all, here in Minnesota, US we face some gusty conditions for windsurfing.

Especially at my home lake Calhoun - Maka Ska. - Gusty as hell - cant imagine any place with more gusty conditions.

Compared to a non-gusty area, waterstarting in gusty conditions can be really difficult and consuming. However, there is a trick or tip that will make it easier to perform the waterstart. The tip is to put your sail in waiting position.

Even if it is gusty, probably 50% of the time, there is a little wind, juuust enough to keep the sail flying. To catch that wind and be ready for the next gust strong enough to get you up is key to have fun.

So as I am making the waterstart helper buoy, I decided to make an video that shows the buoy and the gusty conditions waterstart.
Enjoy.

And I know......, there are 100x ways of doing a waterstart and 10kx tips - so I am showing how I do it - and it works at Columbia River Gorge, in Tarifa and as well in Minnesota :-)....
