Looks windy, is it often like that? will I need to bring my 5.5?

Thinking 7.6, 6.6 and either 8.4 or 5.5 as the third sail.

on the event website it says for slalom, '2 Board/2 sail (or similar) format proposed for racing'
Slalom internationally is 3 boards 6 sails

i suppose you take as much as you can and decide just before rego

Yep I'm pretty devastated, I'm going to have to cull my current PWA replica quiver of 3 slalom boards and 6 slalom sails down to only 2 sails and one board for Green Island, but I think I will get by.

As it is I think it's going to be a challenge 2 kids + wife and 35kg of gear, wouldn't want to be taking any more than that.

Getting fairly pumped now, just need some wind down our way on a weekend to get a sail for some conditioning.

Water temp up there at the moment 26 deg.

Sean !! This is definitely not our flag !!!!
We have the same flag as France, if you want to avoid a diplomatic incident, you should reverse it to blue/white and red.

The one on the list is a bit like if you used the red/gold and black aboriginal flag to represent Oz (even worse cause it's a political party over here)
(it happens quite a lot cause a smart arse managed to put that flag on most data bases)

NC 5 not registered yet ....Hum.....

There are a few others I know, that have regestered. And for some reason they're not on there.

Its spelt Baillie I'm pretty sure.

What gear is everyone going to take?

I would take a board 85 to 80cm wide board and a 70cm wide board. A 60cm wide board would be nice as they cut through the chop but judging from the videos of Green Island it looks very flat.
For sails I would take a 8.5m and 6.9m

If I was taking one board I would take a 70cm wide.

OH NO! I just downloaded a zip of a bunch of flags to use in the table and that was the NC one in there. Didn't really investigate any further. So I just put the French flag, is that correct???

Guys, I am going to try and hit the island a couple of times in June where I can and will investigate the difference between the Cairns wind readings and 'actual' wind on the island.

I was thinking 7.8 / 7.0 and a small board (85L) and big board (110/120L) just based on what I see the weather like in Cairns the past weeks...

There was a few people who were having trouble getting through to the Paypal page and who might have 'entered' but not done the payment. We've sent out payment requests from Paypal to try and get around this problem, so it's possible a few have slipped through. If anyone has paid and who isn't on that list, please email me - seanobrien [at] aus120.com !!

Hope we get a windy week, I don't want to have to lug my 117 all the way up there.

Arlington reef graph is the one to watch. Take 2-3 knots off for water level and its basically what you have at green. If not 21knots by the 7 am reading take the big gear. Like a 6.5. Check the radar image in the am. If lots of showers good chance you'll be propping up pool side bar or snorkelling.

If blowy. Sit at the back of the boat and watch out for the chunder from down under!

Based on those historic speeds it looks like a 6.5 for the 35 - 40 knt board speed day and 7.5-8 for the lighter days.

Ill be running the old faithful jp 68 with 6.7 and 7.6.

Anyone thinking we will need sails of 8m plus from previous visits?

Think Toody just quoting how windy it is the same week every year.
Seems to be always windy the last week of June.
Certainly has been for me the last 2 years
