Coming up pretty quick just wondering who's going.
So far I've heard there are some crews coming from Tassie, WA, Qld and maybe even NZ and New Caledonia.
Any from SA or Victoria going.
Been Bugger all wind in Brissy so looking forward to some time on the water up there.
Awesome place to sail if you haven't been there before.

Think NSW has around 8 - 10 people going that I know of.

Brett, Lewis, Chris, Remi, Mike, Murray, James, Steve

I think the fleet could could end up around the 40 mark which will be a good size.

This should be a great week in an awesome location and a real good opportunity to sail and meet up with a wide variety people from a all over AUS and quite possibly one of our first true national titles.

Do you need a turtle fin! Heard they are renowned to be up there this time of year (breeding).

Its interesting you say that.. As with the majority of sports, there're amateurs that are as good if not better than a lot of the pro's, they just have different priorities in life!

It's going to be very exciting to follow the event!

I thought the same as you !!

Until last week when 421 came over....NC 5 is an amateur lucky enough to do the PWA (sponsors ) but seeing a pro like smx421 sail made us (locals) understand when intesive training and perfectly rigged gear makes such a difference !
Bloody Julien would finish each race 100 m ahead, even of NC5...

Nevertheless, as Vando said Oz vs NC bring it on !!

But back to the topic it's a shame not many of us here have heard about the event could've been a good trip to north qld for us !!!!

How are you all getting gear from sydney to the island. Was thinking about going but not sure how to get my board and sails up there without costing a fortune.

Cheers

Can someone explain why the photographer for this event isn't a local? Seeing the quality of the footage that has come out of WA last summer I am very surprised another major Australian event sponsored by Australian tourism organisations is engaging a foreign photographer.

Because (with due respect to any australian photographers) John Carter is renowned as one of the best windsurfing photographers in the world. He does all the PWA events and photoshoots for many of the top brands.

What about Col? He seems to be doing a decent job. Actually to be honest some of Cols stuff is better than anything I have seen in any mags or videos. Look at the footage in this video. It makes most windsurf product videos shot in Maui look like amateur hour:

Taking photos at this event would, in all probability, require taking photos of red sails.
