Definitely no lack of wind, only light 1 afternoon, which stuffed up the slalom racing that day. Doing both Freerace & Slalom I physically couldn't have done any more sailing then what was run.

This has been one of the best sailing / racing weeks of my life.
What an event what a place and great people
The most profetional and fun event I have ever attended massive congratulation to event organisers and competitors
My first time but I carnt wait to com back next year to defend my tile and meet up with new and old friends
There is a saying in life only say positive things and don't make comment on things you don't know anything about

I love all the controversy, sound a bit like a wave comp....
Surf was too small to run...surf was too big....I got dropped in on....no one told me the heats were extended.... Can't jump in that wind,...judges are blind.....scorers can't add up.....

I've thrown my harness on the ground and kicked the sand a few time, used one or all the above exuses..... Then woken up a realised it just wasn't my day.

The people that run these things get bugger all thanks they deserve.

What do the Notice of Race and or Sailing Instructions for the event say about rerunning heats / finals in the event of a large number of competitors over the line before the start.

Hi all,

I'm a kite formula racer and currently learning sailing rules as I rack up races.

I've yet to be a party to a rerun, but have been involved in false starts. I've also been involved with protests which put me on the podium.

I have developed a great deal of respect for the yachting race officials and volunteers as I've learnt, and in reading everything here am inclined to defer to the trained official's ruling.

As I said, I'm still learning. Pearth Kite Racing club (YWA sanctioned) just ran our first state titles. We are looking at hosting nationals next. I'll be competing and will sign a document that binds me to the decisions of the committee. I'll utilize the protest room if needed, and respect their authority after that.

I'm looking forward to joing a team for next year's Mauritius event. A kite / windsurfer team shall be fun.

Time to let it go and enjoy the sport.

Hi Guys,
I wrote some stuff on my blog about the event. It has some of my gear selection and some budget stuff if you are contemplating the event next year. Also my ideas how the event could expand.

Great week of racing up in the tropics, it's a shame the tides weren't better to get a few more rounds of slalom in over the week. There was no shortage of wind with racing most days on 7.1 race and 105rrd v7. A little bit of weed on the first day played havoc on the race course, this is normally gone later in the season. A lot of sailors on point and going quick in the choppy conditions bought on by the easterly trade pattern. Southerly's are much better and also bring a lot less rain with them. Thanks to all those who gave up time to make this event happen. The green island wind machine is still blowing. Can you all come back now so I have someone to sail with this week. Here are a couple of pics from the week gone.

Few more rounds of slalom………if just doing the slalom races I could have coped with that, but doing Freerace & Slalom, I don't think so.

I think he needs to move his base back,
Get longer lines,
Sails too flat,
Stance is wrong,
I like the red board and KA combo though, sweet

Sorry Benny, just had a couple of reds watching a windless West Aus sunset

Just came back to Perth and reflecting on the awesome 11 days I had in Cairns.

First a big thanks for the people involved in making this event happening. Everybody form the organizers, guys in the boats / land and behind the computers, all giving up their own time, to make this a event to remember.

I believe they got the most out of the conditions, where the tide had a big impact for racing conditions.
Racing is racing and it is hard to make everybody happy at times, but again well done to get maximum out of what you guys had available.

I believe we all had a lot of fun out there.

Great to race with good mates on the water and meet some new people. The free racers looked like the had a blast and the free-stylers as well.

The slalom rule of 2 sails / 2 boards or 1 board 3 sails made everything more simple. It was very easy just to rock up next day and get 2 sails ready with no stress :)

Congrats to Vesterstrom that won the event and to all the other winners.

This is my first Green Island event / and visit to Cairns. The sensation of joy and fun is fresh in my mind and leaves me with a big smile on the face,, :)

Buy a puffy jacket Jedi, that's the only way I'm coping down here. Had sleet outside the work room window this morning. My screen printing ink is like concrete, winge winge winge. At least we don't have cyclones
