Hi Gang

I'm not happy with the stock straps on my new Falcon. I've done some research and the Dakine Supremo straps seem to get a good wrap. Looking around though, I also came across the Dakine Slim Footstrap, which looks great, but I don't think it'd be as comfy and doesn't look fully adjustable.

Does anyone have any experience with aftermarket straps that you care to share, particularly the Supremo by Dakine.

Thanks.

Yep, got the supremos, nothing bad to say! Very comfy.

I was using a lightweight style of footstrap on my formula board and it didn't really work out as I couldn't really keep hold of the board properly. I switched to DaKine Supremo's and it was much better. I found I could really drive the board a lot harder but the bonus was I could do it without the discomfort of the original Patrik straps which was the reason for changing in the first place.

The supremo's also seem to let some water out through the ends so they go ok for weight despite being a very chunky strap. I paid 40 bucks per strap but I consider it a very good investment for the extra performance and comfort.

I know what you mean about the falcon straps. I picked up a 2014 falcon and I don't wish to criticise yet as I haven't sailed the board yet(cry) but the stiff plastic section along the top had me wondering. I actually put the straps on the wrong way so I don't catch my tender little digits on the ridge that sticks out from the edge of the strap.

The Supremo's are very comfy but also not to bad for weight considering the bulk and give you outstanding grip on the board without sanding the skin off the top of your feet. They don't give them away but you get what you pay for.

Yeah agree with pirrad about the Primo being good value compared to the Supremo's and I have a mix of the two types on a board and can't really notice a difference when sailing.
I did try the contour straps but they chopped my feet after a few hours of blasting in rough water so got rid of them.

One thing that annoys me about Dakine is that they spruik there twist control system inserts but from my experience you only get them with the Contour straps and I haven't been able to buy them separate for the other dakine straps.

the chinooks are really comfy and easy to adjust, I replaced all my Patrik straps by those.

recently discovered the tricktionnary straps, awesome stuff, bought 3 for my son's freestyle board, great support and according to him unbeatable when it comes to comfort, not cheap but worth it.

I did the same, before even trying them, because logically they look like they should go the opposite way.

After a couple of hours the outer edges of my feet just behind my little toe gets pretty tender. Also the straps seem to swivel a little bit despite being done up as tight as possible. Will the Dakines not move around as much? That's pretty annoying.

Sure $40 seems a bit expensive, but it's not much in the big scheme of windsurfing costs. Think I'll get some.

Thanks for the replies!
