Just wondering if anyone has had screen fogging issues with the new, budget-priced, GoPro Hero? I'm assuming - as it's built into a water proof housing- it should have the fogging issues of the more expensive models?
Cheers for any info.
I assume you have the moisture absorbent strips inside the case. All Gopro's with the waterproof case will fog up without them.
If it fogs up without the strip it means its waterproof.![]()

Basically I had a Hero 3 and it drowned last week - case leaked somehow and she's now in the bin... And yeah, always used the strips- they worked great. But now planning to buy the much cheaper (sub $200) new Gopro Hero and was hoping it wouldn't need the strip as the housing is part of the camera. Though it sounds like it will need strips (or the fridge trick) like the more expensive models. Time will tell I guess...
Hey Phil I have been using a GoPro Hero ($200 grey one) for a while now and have had no issues with lens fogging compared to Hero 3.
Yes the camera is sealed into the waterproof housing, the down side is you cant change battery but it does last for 3+ hours.
Pic quality is similar to base model Hero 3, and it has wide angle function.
After flooding a Hero 3 myself the cheaper Hero is a lot less to worry about.
I now use a bit of o-ring lube on the gasket which they say not to,
but I think it makes a much better seal.
