Hi all,

Hoping you can help, I used to windsurf heaps with my parents when I was young, and it's been a good 15 years, but I still feel like I can step on and pick up where I left off, and I think I'm ready to. Where's the best place to hire and get back into it before I go and buy a kit.

Have been looking at Balmoral beach here in Sydney but there's not a lot of wind and heaps of boats there, and out on Botany bay looks a little too windy for me to get the feel again.

Thoughts?

Thanks heaps!

SM

Narrabeen lakes is pleasant and safe in any winds, good place for starting again, but beware of the cold water in winter. It is also close to the only windsurfing shop in Sydney - WindSurfnSnow, but i am not sure if they rent, try calling them.

yea they do rent 1 day , 3 day ( weekend) , 1 week

i don't want to quote the price they gave me - just encase i am wrong

but if you want to rent just remember

if it more then $100 per day, after 10 days you could easy buy a complete kit to sail

i would and i am sure other guy will lend u there gear for beers and love

Hi,

Where about are you located? Do you have any windsurfing gear at all or are you starting from scratch?

Right now we are getting more westerly winds. There are not that many places that are beginner friendly in westerlies around Sydney.

It may be worth considering day trips away from Sydney to some of the lakes to go windsurfing. Westerlies in Narrabeen Lake are really hard to sail with incredibly gusty and inconsistent wind. Plenty of people do it but westerly winds are much better and more fun to sail in other lakes.

Is Balmoral that bad? OK it's a bit late in the season now, but in the summer, still good spot with onshores, once you pass the anchored boats.

Else Narrabeen is OK. Kurnell on a westerly is good too.

huge parking area
huge water cove - so guess it can cover a wide rang of wind direction

but it get deep quickly - that why there a lot of moored boats

like other have asked - do you have ur own gear?

(great to learn on hard to build skill as it sooo old _ +
