Bender has made a good thread about what gear we all have ,

I thought i would be good to have thread for all the fallen soldiers !

in the last year i have written off

2 wave boards

3 masts ( one of which was still under warranty )

3 sails

3 booms.

Most of the stuff was old n due for replacement, but it still sux to break stuff!

One 11 year old 430 / 35% mast broke while sailing
The 7 year old sail it was rigged with got a bit damaged in the process esp while swimming to the shore.

Replaced both mast and sail.

Ripped a panel in my NP RS6 7.2 when I fell through it, harness hook first, drifting in about 2 knots of wind.

Bent 2 booms when my rig decided to emulate a trebuchet and throw me as far as it could. I may have to try to stop depth sounding with my board. It tends to stop very quickly.
Managed to make one good(but a little twisted) boom, again catapulted and went through a panel in my KA Kult.

To Do List:

buy new booms
buy new sail
get sail repaired

2 booms snapped, 1 mast broken, 2 bases and over 20 decent dings in my boards.

Gear is getting way to expensive for this sort of thing to keep happening.

Not much last year. 1 430 drop shaped mast broke at the ferrule. 1 boge universal failed. 2 or 3 minor board dings and some sail dents.

Oh and my booties fell to bits :)

That's the first year I haven't trashed a fin.

Obviously I'm not trying hard enough. Time to start looping :)

My beloved 6.2 NP RS4 had the internal ripped out of it inside the luf tube

But considering it was a second hand sail when I got it and had done conservatively 2500km and had many spectacular Elmo moments on it I can't complain.

Still miss it though, it was my bread and butter sail which I used the most.

Oh probably trashed 2 maybe 3 fins

How the bl00dy hell can I get a red thumb for saying I did a serious injury, and I'd rather bust 20 sails than hurt myself and not be able to sail?

There is some f^&$ing weirdos on here

I've had a good ran the last few years, I only broke one boom last season which was getting pretty long in the tooth.

From 05-07 I had a shocker though. 3 x 490 masts (1 stupidity, 2 due to crap manufacturing). 2 x 430 masts (stupidity - well trying silly things) and 4 sails (they were getting old and all went in pretty big surf conditions).

They are skinnies with a standard bottom to accept standard extensions. North introduced them some years back.

On Merimbula Lake, hit an oyster lease @ 22 knots. Trashed my JP fin, but no damage to finbox. Evidence of good design by JP, I reckon.

Can't believe how lucky I was to not get injured.
