Hey All,
I am running with a 120L Old School Nash Board with a 6.6M sail which I can handle at 18-20kt off Redcliffe, anything more its a struggle to keep the board in the water. I am looking to get extra gear so I can get our more often. Am I better to bigger or smaller?
Any thoughts, suggestions are welcome
Cheers
Jason
Assuming you are a middle-weight, I would get a smaller board (105 ish) and a bigger sail (7.5 ish). You can then use your 120 with the bigger sail and go out in 12-18 knots, use the smaller board and smaller sail in 18+ knots and have options in the middle (i.e. if it is lumpy and 15 knots you can use the bigger sail and the smaller board, if it is flat and 18 knots you can use the smaller sail and bigger board)
Thanks for the info. Should have put my weight, hovering around the 85kg mark depending on how many beers I had the week before. Any suggestions on second hand gear?
A 7.5, a 100-105 few, a 5.5 will cover you for most conditions (alongside what you have now) at Redliffe. Later you can add a smaller board and a 5.0 for big days.
I'm 82 kg and my most used gear is 6.5 and 104 and 115 litres.
