Have you thought of drinking a coke or having a Qantas holiday to relieve your stress? It's how the world works, provide a website, then monetarise it to cover costs and make an income/profit. All fair enough

We don't pay to use the site. Laurie is entitled to make money from advertisers. I don't find them overly intrusive.

Most of the ads I see are fairly well targeted. All day today I've been getting ads for Steve Toltz's novel Here Goes Nothing .... because I thought to myself last night he must have written something in the last few years and did a search. Sure enough, new one came out in May.
It makes me wonder how people can be dumb enough to get caught downloading kiddie porn. Don't they notice how ads follow your interests?

I remember when most Youtube videos did not have ads!, now seems almost all have them and not just one, but multiple ads at the start and then more ads through out, even ads for the new sail boat reviews that are technically an ad for the particular sail boat company!

Easily fixed... pay $14.99 for a YouTube Premium subscription and the ads are gone.

There are plenty of free apps that stop all the ads.
Since I uploaded one I havent seen one ad on Seabreeze, Utube or my emails.

There is a downside of no longer getting random ads though,

My Grammarly is really bad and my penis is still smaller than a wind sailor.

I can't stand the ads and use an adblocker and I do realise it's not completely fair for the website publisher. That said, when ads get that intrusive, it's either abandon the website or use it with an adblocker. I'm more than happy to support this website with a monthly or annual subscription that removes the ads though... Guess by paying for classified ads we also contribute to the website a bit.

Yeah, the problem is I got used to few ads!, and never watched that much, especially after realizing the sailboat reviews done with a handheld camera while a sailboat was under sail made me somewhat nauseous afterwards for a good 6-8 hrs, those were my favorite ones.

It's the scrolling one that is the worst, hide's threads behind the ad. Never considered using an ad blocker before but might to get rid of that one.

Never mind the ads, but is seabreeze tripping out for anyone else? It blanks out, then comes back, then trips out completely and comes up with a "there was a problem with seabreeze.com blahblahblah.
refreshing the page brings it back.

Yes fair enough having ads, but it wasn't necessary to degrade this site so badly by using these pop up ads that block what you're trying to read. They're an abomination, a big disappointment. Time to look into ad blockers

Ad blockers will do the trick, I do not see any ads at all. :)

Yep, I just loaded one and those annoying ads are now gone, wonderful! $8/yr, money well spent.
I feel let down, but at least it's dealt with now.

What device/browser are you using? I'm using PC/Edge and I get banner ads, easy to ignore, and no pop ups

Adblockers like uBlock Origin are and will always be free. Make sure you install the legit one from the Chrome web store if you use Chrome on your desktop. On mobile look at Firefox Focus which has build in ad blockers. Brave is supposedly good as well.

And for the Seabreeze crew. This is a good time to start thinking about alternatives for ads as honestly it got a bit crazy. Maybe an ad-free paid subscription? Also better for our privacy...

they tried subscription services . sort of . didn't work. People essentially don't want to pay. In the scheme of things for what Seabreeze offers and the fact that it's free I am happy to look at a few ads.

Figure out how to scroll+ignore simultaneously and not get distracted by shiney flashy or irrelevant things. Amazing first world skill once mastered, kinda like speed reading. Then you can concentrate on what's important like Bitcoin, US politics or Sky News overuse of quotation marks.

I count 4 adds per topic page, plus a banner add at the bottom.

I rarely notice them

I actually don't mind the ads cause their always relevant to other things I've been looking at or searching recently. Algorithms and spying at it best I guess. Just ignore the ones I have no interest in. Here's an example of how they saved me roughly $800. Been looking at new mountain bikes for the last 6 or 7 months but the one I really wanted was a little bit too much for me to spend at the moment, I'm not that hard core in to it, only do it to keep fit for windsurfing in the off season so Was resigned to keeping my 21 y/o vintage classic goin for now and wasn't checking the bike sellers website anymore. Then one night I was checking out the latest forums and gear for sale on Seabreeze and an ad popped up "flash sale 3 days only 35% off" the very bike I was dreaming of. SNAP, I now have one sitting in the garage and an extra $800 in the old sky rocket that otherwise wouldn't have been there if it wasn't for the ad that popped up on Seabreeze.

Good deal, ads can be useful!, they should work with major dealers to get their windsurfing/foiling sales added. I have been lucky to find good sales by accident, but could use some help.

I have slowed my consumption of wind and kite magazines as it seemed I was just paying for endless pages of ads and less relevant content. i take a huge amount away from this site, and contribute nada so ads are fine by me so far.

But my attention and repeat returns is all down to the quality of the contributors which here are overall excellent and are giving free goodwill for the site. Poorer sites have faded. I would not feel hard done if the big givers got some take-away somehow. If you can figure something out, try asking.
