Thumbs Up

Hello all

I'am currently in the market for a new, modern style board. I currently have an old Seatrend Slalom board and weigh around 65kg. I find the getting into the straps unnatural and subsequently can travel quickly in one direction, stop suddenly, then come around. Often on the edge of control. I sail in anything from 10 knots to 20-25 with sails ranging from 5 metres to 8 metres. I'm at an intermediate level I guess, still learning to gybe and tack properly. I recently went to the Windwanderers demo day at Lake Cootharaba, which was excellent. I sailed on a JP SuperSport 112L, some big formula thing and a 101L JP Freestylewave board. The latter two being my favourites, as getting into the straps was much simpler. The FSW was awesome to carve pointlessly around the place and I prefer the more comfortable controlled stance it provided. Not sure if it's my technique or just the different style of board or even the age of the board but I find my seatrend very awkward to get into the straps, likes more weight is on the rear foot than the mast base foot. Nonetheless I thought the FSW was superb and am wondering what the differences between FSW and freestyle boards are? Or if I should invest in a more modern slalom board?
