Balz Muller one of my many windsurfing heroes .He is inspirational and innovative . This video is dedicated to Radiculo and the Severne FREEK sail.
I'm a 56 year old windsurfer from NSW , Australia and this is my home spot at Sanctuary Point. Just like Balz ,I am using a SEVERNE FREEK sail and the SEVERNE PSYCHO 102 which is my light wind board.

How good is that gybe sail handling at 1.45

From one 50 something with a bromance for balz to another that is damn impressive riding and a great edit

This footage was taken in the end of May . It was a light autumn nor-easter .It's been a few years since I have used a sail that big, hadn't sailed for a while and was desperate and rigged a 5.2m,notice no white caps.
I do 90% of my sailing with a 4.4m. The Spock 540 I just learnt a few weeks ago.Always stoked to learn a new move, especially in winter. Haven't sailed the last few winters as I am a real chicken in the cold. But since in Paradise beach the water is only knee deep you can't get too wet.Plus I have gotten used to sailing on my own without my kids as they are pretty busy with Uni now. So I now seem to spend more time practicing new tricks and skills.I seem to be mastering new tricks every few sessions now so I am more keen to get on the water whenever I can, even if it is cold. The insta 360 is also a great motivator . Its also great to crack a new trick and then be able to prove I really did it to Alex .Of course tricks he already does, but sometimes I get some footage of something he may not have tried yet
I am 73 kg and use a 100 when I am learning new stuff. It's easier to learn new skills with a bigger ,more stable platform and lets you getaway with a smaller rig to make it even easier. Normally ride a 90. I have an older Starboard Flare 90 for strong wind(up to 35knots)it handles rough water really well.My Starboard Ignite 90 is a much faster board, sometimes too fast for an old guy when doing complicated manoeuvres and can't keep up with the board. But for other things the extra speed is amazing

This photo is quite appropriate for today as Lewis Hamilton is back on Pole

Hey Akim,
great to see you still stoked for sailing and your skills are not diminished. I have fond memories of being on the water with you when I lived in Cbr and witnessing first hand some incredible freestyle. Alex was just a nipper then, but the potential was obvious.
. Sanctuary Point is a great spot, I've been putting forward my business case to Helen that we need to retire there! Keep posting mate.
Cheers, Shane.

Hey Shane, great to here from you and thanks for the kind words.Looking forward to you moving here, we'll have a hoot You can get Helen to give me a call ,I'll fill her in on how good business is down here I've been working in Canberra a lot lately and I plan on getting some of those easterlies again. I do really miss them ,just need to learn to dodge all those wing dingers . We don't have them or kiters at SP.

Tom- Alex and I use the same fin in all our freestyle boards (80 ,90 ,or 100litre) We use 17 cm Makani Koi weed fin. SP is not a very weedy place to sail. Most of the area is chest deep so weed isn't normally an issue. We sail from the boat ramp and during the holiday period (December, January and Easter) there are lots for fisherman launching their boats and chop up the weed with their props as they go through the shallows and it then floats to the surface.
I have noticed that most of the pro freestyler are now using longer fins(20,21) than they did 5 years ago(17). I figure a raked 17cm weed fin has about the same area as a 21cn upright freestyle fin. Anyway we just got really used to the Koi weedy .I now find a straight fin a bit strange and would take me quite a while to readjust to.
