I got a new board a couple of months ago, an F2 XTC 103. I've never had a board like this before (only wave boards in the past) and have been playing with the footstraps a bit. All I've heard or read before is to match the front and rear straps ie. both out or both in but I've found that having the front straps inboard and the back out seems to be working for me. I found this by accident after trrying out the single strap on the back and forgetting to move the front straps back out when I put two back on the rear. You can drive off the fin really well with your back foot for speed or getting upwind, even have your front foot out of the strap a bit, on the rail like the strap was out there and then if you need a bit of control in some messy water just stand up a bit and move onto your front foot. It makes it a lot easier to land jumps smoothly with the front foot in from the edge of the board too. Maybe it's just because I'm not use to standing so far out on the board. I found it hard to keep planing through lulls with my front foot outboard too, like it would sink the rail too easy. Does anyone else use a set-up like this?
