Hi crew - I am trying to find some around 12cm US box fronts for my thruster (preferably MFC red or MUF X wave /BP wave epic) - anyone know if where in Aus I can purchase them.

Looks like I have to order from USA.

Have you tried Strath Windsurfing shop? I know Gareth has some MUF and BP fins .

Yes looked on website - but not any of the fins I need - would still need to be ordered in

seems its just easier to buy them on line from O/S

It may or may not be easier to buy from O/S but it is cheaper to order them via your local shop. Some times you might find the info you are after just by emailing your local shop!

I,ve always gotten mfc from either Hawaii or New Zealand.

Have never been able to get what I'm after in Oz. If you find a local source for mfc red I'd like to know as well..

MFC emailed - red customs can be purchased direct from them - just email

I checked local shops web sites but no one stocked MFC which are my first choice

I disagree.
I just got quoted for a set of fins. One direct from supplier on Maui. the second from the australian distributor.
$85 cheaper from the supplier and that included postage.
Now if Australian distributors want a make a profit from selling fins thats fine but i just saved $85 in 5 min doing exactly what a distributor would of done.

Well I sell fins in Australia $ for the RRP advertised by the manufacturer in US $ so just on exchange rate alone it is cheaper to buy in Australia from some shops.

I have bought some BP and Simmer fins from you before and the price was fine don't have a problem and if the fins were in the shop I would order them - I have bought fins I cant get locally direct from Maui and from shops in WA and elsewhere

As the consumer with on-line purchasing access I will purchase from where I can get things quickest, most convenient and exactly what I want.. I can understand its too hard to hold everything in a shop so that's why we sometimes its easier just go direct to the source.

A mate and I recently ordered some goods from the UK (with a friend halved the freight) on Sunday and it arrived on the Friday also saving more than $100 per item - in my past experiences the local shop in the western beach side suburbs might just get around to placing the order by Friday or if the right person isn't there the order wont get placed at all and when it finally arrives there's a good chance they would sell it to someone else before you get to collect it (paid for or not)

Unfortunately not every shop gives you the service you should expect. It is a pity however to assume all shops treat their customers the same way.
In my case I am the only person the customer deals with so reduced chance for mistakes. I am honest about how long it will take and orders are allways place the day the order is taken (unless I have informed the customer otherwise) and Items ordered for customers are held for the customer.

Not to worry you have ordered your MFC fins and It is a brand I do not deal with. I hope they do the trick for you and we get a good summer of wind.

The reality is windsurfing shops are a dying in Australia there are virtually no longer any importers and the costs of importing small numbers of sails and boards is crazy. It is a pity as Australian windsurfers end up suffering when all the shops are gone and when the Australian dollar falls it will no longer be so cost effective to order gear from overseas. I think what many miss is all the small sales of harness lines fins and so on help justify holding stock of Boards and Sails masts and booms. Once people start buying all those small items online overseas it makes it harder for shops to stock boards, sails, masts and booms and boards sails, masts and booms are a bit harder and more expensive for the individual to buy overseas.

The shop you are referring to is a really bad example.
