Hey all, wondering what would be a good fin for a 121L Fanatic Falcon. Not really looking for top end speed, just medium-light wind, up and across the wind with a 6.6m sail. Weed fin preferred.
I've tried a 36cm Vector Canefire and whilst i generally like vector fins it just felt wrong and the board was sticking to the water, maybe something bigger?
Cheers, Oscar.
I used to use a 46 tectonics talon on that board with my 8.5, this was the recommendation given by the fin designer, I had previously used a 44, and it made a huge difference.
I don't have that board any more but, as a guess I would have put a 40cm fin on it with 6.6M sail.

Hi,
My board is Fanatic Falcon 110 lt. Board's fin is 42 cm. I have been using this board and fin since 2010. Sail size is 4.8 and 5.5. I usualy sail in heavy wind. My weight is 70 kg. I use this 42 cm fin because of spin out problem. I solved spin out problem with this fin. Board's original fin is 36-38 cm lenght. I never use it. General rule is: large volume large fin. Small volume small fin. 42 cm fin will be efficient for you. Normally for this board you must use large fin 42 to larger one.
My fin's mark is Drake.
Bye.....
I match fin size to sail size irespective of the volume of the board
So what size would you use for a 6.5m sail?
I match fin size to sail size irespective of the volume of the board
I match fin size to both sail and volume.
Same sail on a bigger (wider) board will need a bigger fin. A 6m would like 36cm on 110l, and the same 6m would like 30cm on 95l.
Miileage may vary but something like that.
