I know they are a great sail , but does anyone like that ridiculous , stupid clew end system ?
Has anyone done surgery and made it normal . I've got four and thinking of cutting that crap off the end , by a sailmaker , not me , is it doable ?

I always wondered about that.

Looks like you have to take the boom extension out every you time you rig it....

Dear I max 1,
It is really imbecile design. Get a scissors and cut it , do it yourself be brave you don't need a sailmaker.
Bye Melih..

Totally doable. Neil Pryde R&D loft did mine and it is great. Very simple procedure...no anesthetic required.

Maybe others can show pictures of their Neil Pryde Z1/Diablo with the shear tip cut off. Or their new Ezzy Hydra with that ridiculous bottom batten cut off.

^^^Or how to tip a Severne sail out of the newer bags with the neoprene end. Drives me mad, worst design in windsurfing.

NP Mast extension I have, not sure which year/model, has me pulling the generously provided formula line through, not next to, but directly ****ing through, the teeth.

At least it has me pulling the line through, ****ing throoough, the teeth when I pull straight down. I can avoid the teeth by pulling to the side, but that's just as silly.

Also, that button.

This is looking like a gripe thread.

Hi Imax , it may be a personal choice, but I'd gladly swap my evo 8 6.4 for a good condition evo 6. But, yes they can be a right p.i.t.a.

I wouldn't say that. My reason is I have two slake masts (460 and 430) which I really like and don't want to get rid of every year, so they'll suit this years bend curve.....
But I've got nearly a full set of evo 6's, just need the 6.4. Even sold the np masts, all except the 400rdm, which sits well with the 5.4

Hey Melih, I thought of taking them in to my local sailmaker to do just that, after all, the sail is supported by the boom batten, and there is a carbon mini batten just below it.
Good idea, I say.

Thought some of the pros never used that marketing gimmick...
Probably safe to chop it.

It never worried me. It keeps tension around the perimeter. I used to rig as normal but not put the pins in the boom extension until after the downhaul is set. So attach the ouhaul and let the boom telescope as required.
